The Water Security Agency has launched an online portal that makes the data on the provinces water resources available to the public.
Anyone from agricultural producers, communities, engineering groups, and researchers can access the user-friendly website, dubbed the GeoHub Portal. The WSA’s Executive Director of Communications Patrick Boyle says the portal brings together 17 Geographic Information System layers and four web maps in one place.
There are four main categories of data displayed on the site, which has an easy-to-understand map format. The categories are water well locations, soil moisture reports, stream flows and lake levels, and dam locations, which there are 72 of across the province.
This data has been used by the WSA to monitor and manage Saskatchewan’s water resources, but they felt it would benefit the public just as much.
