The missing funds from the Highways Ministry is just one of the losses tabled in the most recent report on losses of public money within government ministries and Crown corporations, for the period from January 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023.

In March the Ministry determined banking information was fraudulently changed by someone impersonating a supplier consequently three payments meant for the supplier were redirected to an inappropriate bank account to the tune of $509,380.00. The matter is under investigation by police.

Two Broadview Housing Authority managers contracted by the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation had already resigned but police are now investigating $9,913.00 in rent payments misappropriated by the contracted managers. And an administrator contracted to work for the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation was terminated after paying themselves $8,500.00 in fraudulently inflated salary. The full loss has been recovered and while reported to police, criminal charges are not being pursued.
