The Meewasin Valley serves as a significant ecosystem and natural area for humans and animals alike.
To make sure the valley can continue to be enjoyed, Meewasin Valley Authority are hosting their 42nd Annual Clean Up kicking off tomorrow and lasting until the end of May. Andrea Lafond, the CEO of Meewasin Valley Authority, says last year, over 2700 participants cleared 11,080 kilograms of waste. At the end of the event, prizes will be awarded to those who collected the most trash, and the most unique piece of trash. Lafond says the most commonly found garbage includes single-use plastic fast food containers, as well as reusable masks. Cleaning gear like gloves and bags will be provided, and anyone wanting to participate can sign up at meewsin.com.
