A business in Stony Rapids has been charged with illegally selling alcohol. Charges were laid after a proactive checkstop by a North District Combined Traffic Services on March 17th. Just before 6 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle they say had alcohol inside and which they determined had been bought at significantly inflated prices from an unauthorized seller.
A search was conducted at a business in Stony Rapids and RCMP say 640 cans of beer, 24 bottles of hard liquor as well as 14 bottles and four boxes of wine were seized.
Investigators determined the business was not licensed to sell alcohol that could be removed from the premises.
Corporal Blair de Bruin from the North District CTSS says, “Illegal alcohol sales are a safety concern. Licensing is in place to help ensure that alcohol is sold in a responsible way.”
