INTERPOL contact RCMP in Russell, Manitoba saying that an online social media account, associated with a resident in Russell, had uttered threatening comments via various social media platforms towards law enforcement personnel, government officials and medical professionals. That was on January 11 at approximately 10:05 p.m.
RCMP then identified the account holder, and from where the threats originated, and say the individual was known to have a violent history with police encounters.
On January 12, last Thursday, RCMP say they contacted the individual at his home and tried to have the accused turn himself in. When that didn’t prove fruitful, officers went to the home to make an arrest for Uttering Threats.
Officers knocked on the door and the individual in question allegedly became combative, fought with officers and was physically brought under control.
In the scuffle one of the suspect’s dogs tried to intervene. An officer suffered a superficial injury in the form of a dog bite to the leg.
Michael Jae Man, 42 years old, of Russell Manitoba was remanded into custody and is charged with Uttering Threats, Resisting Arrest and four counts of Assaulting a Police Officer.
Russell, Manitoba is approximately 100 kilometres southeast of Yorkton.
