The City of Saskatoon says with the latest round of fresh snow, their crews have resumed focus on high traffic roads like Circle Drive, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive, and Attridge Drive.
Priority street snow grading started again this morning with City and contractor crews. This work will continue until all priority streets are completed, within 72 hours. Sanders are applying de-icing materials, focusing on highest traffic streets, intersections, and bridge decks. Sidewalk clearing re-started as well and will be completed within 48 hours. This morning, there are 28 graders, 8 snowplows, and 15 sanders working on Saskatoon’s streets.
Snowfall and extreme cold warnings are in place for parts of Saskatchewan this morning. There are snowfall warnings for southern Saskatchewan along the Trans-Canada highway and south. The warning extends as far north as Central Butte and Craik as well as Yorkton-Melville.
Ten to 20 centimetres of snow is expected as a low-pressure system develops south of the international border. The bulk of the accumulating snow will fall this afternoon through the overnight hours. The snow will taper off Friday morning as the system moves east.
For the Far north into Fond du Lac, Stony Rapids, Key Lake and Uranium City there is an extreme cold warning in place where wind chill values of -45 degrees are expected.
