Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for the Kindersley, Rosetown, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, Spiritwood, Prince Albert, Candle Lake, Waskesiu and Cumberland regions with 10 to 15 centimetres of wet snow expected on Wednesday. Up to 25 centimetres or more is possible in some locations.
“We may get some tonight (Tuesday), but the snow will mostly fall starting tomorrow morning and through the day and not tapering off until Wednesday night or early Thursday,” said Terri Lang, an Environment Canada meteorologist based in Saskatoon. “The heaviest portions will be falling tomorrow.”
Saskatoon is not included in the snowfall warning—but is part of a special weather statement that includes a wider part of the southwest and northeast regions of the province. Lang says the area around the city can expect between 5 and 8 centimetres of snow. Some areas could also see some freezing rain, which would make travel conditions challenging.
