A 41-year-old man was arrested by Saskatoon Police during the noon hour Saturday. The incident resulted in police deploying a CEW, or conducted energy weapon, commonly known as a taser.
The police service says an officer spotted the man in the 600 block of Confederation Drive and recognized him as a man wanted for breach of statutory release as well as being unlawfully at large.
The man was then confronted by police in the 400 block of Confederation Drive where the man refused to comply with demands to surrender himself and was attempting to take flight from the officer which is when the CEW was deployed.
The man was taken into custody without further incident and is facing multiple charges including trafficking a controlled substance.
