A dangerous driving incident kicked off around 7:15 p.m. Thursday evening when Saskatoon police officers attempted a traffic stop near 22nd street and Avenue P. Police say the driver didn’t stop and took off at high speeds. The vehicle was tracked by the Air Support Unit and when it stopped temporarily in the 100 block of Circle Drive, a 25 year old male suspect was arrested at that location and a sawed off rifle was seized.
Meanwhile, the vehicle continued outside of Saskatoon and the Air Support Unit continued to track it. RCMP and Saskatoon Police pursued the vehicle until it stopped in the village of Krydor. Police say a suspect was arrested while trying to flee on foot.
A 26-year-old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police and Operation of a Vehicle While Prohibited and a 25-year-old man is charged with six firearm related charges and Breach of Conditions.
And if you were trying to get on to Spadina Crescent during the morning commute, near the University Bridge you were likely detoured by police this morning.
A call came in at 8 a.m. of a collision involving two vehicles, one of which was a motorcycle. Early information from police indicates wildlife in the road may have also been a factor. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
There have been no reports of serious injury from the accident.
