You may not remember the hold up of the Birks Jewellery store in downtown Saskatoon in 2014, but Saskatoon Police didn’t forget. A 37 year old Quebec Man is in Saskatoon Provincial court this morning charged in connection to the armed robbery more than seven years ago.
February 1st, 2014, four men entered the business in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue South, brandishing crowbars and causing extensive damage before stealing a large quantity of jewellery and fleeing.
Investigation led to the identification of the four and Canada-wide warrants were issued. Three men were arrested, two were sentenced and charges against a third were stayed. The fourth man was located earlier this week by Montreal Police and transported back to Saskatoon.
37 year old Pierre Hernandez is facing charges of Robbery, Having his Face Masked With Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, Conspiracy to Commit Arson and Breach of Probation.
Investigators also believe a fifth person was involved but have not been able to identify them. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
