A specialized crystal methamphetamine treatment centre is opening soon at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Estevan.
Health Minister Jim Reiter says provincial funding will support 30 new addictions treatment beds.
Fifteen are specifically for people recovering from crystal meth, 5 for people with other additions, plus 4 pre-treatment and 6 post-treatment beds.
Reiter explains that clients will be connected to follow-up care in their home communities once they are done treatment .
St. Joseph’s Hospital Executive Director Greg Hoffort says the treatment will be individualized.
The hospital is working with Cedars at Cobble Hill, a nationally recognized leader in addictions care.
The treatment centre is expected to open October 1st.
