On social media, eHealth has announced ransomware was discovered on its servers Sunday morning. It was detected by antivirus software, and the work continues on containing the spread of a computer virus. The organization says its first priority is the protection of confidential patient information, and there is no evidence at this point that any information found its way out of eHealth. MySaskHealthRecord is unavailable until the situation is rectified.
Ransomware encrypts a victim’s files and the attacker would then demand a ransome to restore access. eHealth has contacted the RCMP about this attack.
