SaskTel claims not only that Unifor has told its members to flood the SaskTel Contact Centres with fictitious calls causing delays for customers but that there have been incidents of vandalism resulting in outages.
Those incidents include October 13th for four hours in the 400 block of 25th Street East where a power metre was removed from a SaskTel cabinet. SaskTel Internet and TV were down for about 4 hours for approximately 152 customers.
On October 8th SaskTel says the fibre cables in a SaskTel cabinet were moved knocking out home phone, internet and TV for about 20 customers in the 800 block of 4th Avenue North. That lasted for about 12 hours.
In the 500 block of Hochelega Street West in Moose Jaw for 18 hours, approximately 130 customers were without home phone, internet or television service after a SaskTel cabinet was vandalized and cables were moved and cut.
SaskTel is concerned actions such as this will impact customer’s ability to communicate in an emergency and ask that anyone who notes suspicious activity, call the local police.
